Sir David Attenborough

Sir David Attenborough signing copies of his book ‘Life Stories’ in W H Smith in Cheltenham on Thursday.
(PIC PAUL NICHOLLS) 15 OCTOBER 2009

The legend that is Sir David Attenborough attracted a massive queue and his publicist nearly stopped me from taking pictures fearing I would hold up proceedings. I said trust me and did this pic in about 10 seconds. I was so quick Sir David thanked me but questioned me if I needed more time.

When doing these shots you have to be quick because there is usually a massive queue behind you. I get in, place the book high near the face to fill the frame, and to soften the flash I bounce the flash off of my notepad.

You only get the first two or three songs to get your pics, then you are out, so you work quickly. Luckily Sir Tom was very visual with his face.

Jimmy Nesbitt celebrates

Jimmy Nesbitt’s Riverside Theatre riden by Barry Geraghty which won the third race at St Patricks Thursday, Cheltenham Racecourse on Thursday.
(PIC PAUL NICHOLLS) 15 MARCH 2012

One of my favourite pics from Cheltenham Races. I knew the horse that had just won was owned by Jimmy Nesbitt, so when I got into the winners enclosure I looked for him and kept my camera trained on him. At one point he couldn’t contain his excitement at winning and this is it!
